An easy but tasty burger bun recipe adapted (mostly) from kingarthurbaking.com. This will make 8 buns, approximately 10cm in diameter.

Ingredients

  • Dough
    • 200±30g  water, depending on ambient humidity
    • 1 egg
    • 418g All-Purpose Flour
    • 50g sugar
    • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
    • 1 tbsp instant yeast
    • 28g butter
  • Seasoning
    • 1 egg (optionally, just the white), beaten
    • Sesame seeds
    • Garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, etc.
  • 1 tbsp melted butter, save for basting

Process

  • Mix all ingredients except for basting butter
  • Knead thoroughly
  • Set aside in a bowl to rise, at least 2 hours
  • Divide into 8 equal dough balls
  • Place evenly onto oiled baking pan, press into 3″ discs
  • Allow to rise a second time, at least 30 min
  • If the edges come in contact, that is fine
  • Brush the top of each bun with the beaten egg
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds onto buns
  • Very lightly dust buns with the other seasonings
  • Bake at 375F for 15 min, or until desired color is achieved
  • Remove from oven, baste with butter, allow to cool on a rack
