An easy but tasty burger bun recipe adapted (mostly) from kingarthurbaking.com. This will make 8 buns, approximately 10cm in diameter.
Ingredients
- Dough
- 200±30g water, depending on ambient humidity
- 50g sugar
- 1 tbsp instant yeast
- 418g All-Purpose Flour
- 1 egg
- 28g butter
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- Seasoning
- 1 egg (optionally, just the white), beaten
- Sesame seeds
- Garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, etc.
- 1 tbsp melted butter, save for basting
Process
- Mix dough ingredients, knead thoroughly
- Set aside in a bowl to rise, covered and in a warm spot for 1 hour
- Knead again, let it rise again for another hour
- Divide dough into 8 equal dough balls
- Place evenly onto oiled baking pan, press into 3″ discs
- Allow to rise again, at least 30 min
- Brush the top of each bun with the beaten egg
- Sprinkle sesame seeds onto buns
- Very lightly dust buns with the other seasonings
- Bake at 375F for 15 min, or until desired color is achieved
- Remove from oven, baste with butter, allow to cool on a rack
